Trucking & The Economy

Do you want to really know if the economy is headed for recovery? Well, just pay closer attention to the number trucks on the road he next time you’re traveling down one of the country’s freeways. Simply put, as trucking goes, so goes the economy. That’s because virtually all of the goods and merchandise sold in the U.S. is carried by trucks. The output of U.S. companies and how much consumers are purchasing can directly be measured by how much trucks are hauling.
Despite a decrease in available hauls during the recession, trucking jobs have historically been a secure career no matter what the state of the economy. After decreased consumer spending and manufacturing hit trucking hard at the beginning of 2009 (as it did virtually every industry), the industry is (somewhat) slowly but most certainly surely improving. Just count the number of trucks on the road.
